However a number of the things touched upon made sems in line with my own experiences of having lost my partner Paul so overall this book has helped me and I will read Talk to me next. Perhaps the answers I seek lie in her other works.LOVE Allison! Allison, though I have never had the fortune to personally speak with her...has touched my life more than she may ever know. I lost my 2nd of 5 boys to a murder in a robbery at his job in 20-01...he was only 17. Then in 20-03 after my divorce, I found my jr high sweetheart Elizabeth but sadly we only had just under 9 years together before she died from a stroke at the tender age of 51....ans I most recently lost my 95 year old father so...reading/learning about "Spirituality" has really helped me find my way back to living my life again...such as it is. I love all of her books and hope and pray that someday...just possibly I can meet her for a personal reading. Until then and even if that never happens, Allison has helped me to have a happy heart again.Kindle I’m try to cancel this for the Kindle. I made a mistake of doing this and thought it was a book. Very literally translated I bought this as a gift, the material is apparently very dense due to translation. It was described to me as being likely the exact translations of the passages, rather than a narrative with artistic liberties to match a modern audience.That may be good or bad depending on your goals for the work, but my friend mentioned having to reread passages several times to unpack the meaning of the writing - for the whole book. He mentioned feeling like he had all his own thoughts on the wisdom of the book (as the translator doesn't do much to weave the components together), but it took a lot of work to get there.Great translation of an excellent book in a small but ... Instead, his writing is about a gradual awakening and clarity of thought that his many and varied experiences led him to. Despite being written by a rampant, unwashed and bewilderingly intelligent swordsman with an odd smattering of formal education, his ability to elucidate the intricacies of strategy and apply it to all aspects of life are staggering and surprisingly relevant even now. You do not have to be a fan of Japan, Samurai, the Edo period, eastern philosophy or any other genre you may want to file this book under in order to appreciate it. It is relatively short, easy to read, to the point and like the man himself, deadly accurate. Enjoy the genius that is The Book of Five Rings.Loved it Interesting book. Parts of it were hard for me to follow. Such as the parts on types of attacks and parrying... but I had to read everything because even In those paragraphs such as stabbing the heart there would be a lesson in life. I got a great picture in my head while reading this of what was being said. If you open your mind and really read it. You caN learn something from each paragraph if not each sentence
